Registration and DNA of Fillies born on or after January 1, 2019 As voted, by CBHA members, at the 2018 CBHA Annual Meeting: ALL FILLY FOALS BORN ON OR AFTER JANUARY 1, 2019 ARE REQUIRED TO BE DNA TESTED AT TIME OF REGISTRATION WITH THE CBHA. COST Registration fee for a horse 0-12 months of age: $50.00 (13-48 months of age: 75.00) Plus the cost for DNA testing, per horse: $60.00 Procedure Send the horse's registration application and required fee (for both registration and DNA) into the Canadian Belgian Horse Association office. The DNA kit and instructions will be sent to you, either by email or snail mail. Please allow a minimum of 6-8 weeks for results. |

At the 2015 Annual Meeting the Canadian Belgian Horse Association Directors passed the following rule regarding DNA & JEB. For any animal that is DNA profiled and parentage is verified, the CBHA will document on the certificate of registration "Parentage Verified JEB Non-Carrier" provided one of the following conditions is met: a) Both parents have been DNA Profiled and are JEB tested Non-Carriers. OR b) One parent is a JEB-Tested Non-Carrier and one parent is a Parentage Verified JEB Non-Carrier. OR Both parents are Parentage Verified JEB Non-Carriers.
Stallions having the parentage verified JEB Non-Carrier status will no longer be required to undergo JEB testing before registration of their offspring.
Pedigree Generated Non-Carrier will no longer be recorded on registration certificates.

DNA Recording and JEB Testing of Sires
Since 1986 it has been
mandatory to blood test or DNA a stallion in order to register his
offspring.
As of December 1, 2002 blood tests will no longer be done
and DNA and JEB tests will be done simultaneously.
JEB test results
will be printed on the registration certificates.
COST
The cost for DNA and JEB
testing is $100.00 per horse regardless of whether it is mandatory,
voluntary, a stallion or a mare.
Procedure
Send the horse's
registration certificate and the required fee into the Canadian Belgian
Horse Association office. A bar code and instruction kit on pulling
the hair and where to mail the kit will be sent to you. Please
allow a minimum of 6-8 weeks. |
